Christmas in Eddington
The festive season will soon be in full swing and a packed itinerary of events, including two Christmas markets, has been planned for the Eddington community to come together and enjoy at this special time of year.
December 4
The countdown begins at 10am with family games, decoration and craft-making at Eddie’s Christmas Café, hosted by New Life Church at University of Cambridge Primary School.
That afternoon at 2pm a Christmas Calligraphy workshop at Turing Locke will help you take your Christmas cards and gift tags to the next level.
At 6pm the Megson Christmas Show takes place at Storey’s Field Centre, with husband and wife duo Debbie and Stu Hanna performing festive favourites, undiscovered carols and their own unique Christmas creations.
December 7, 14 and 21
Come and enjoy the first of three free Enchanted Cinema screenings in Eddington this December, with a gluhwein and a blanket on the Dutch Bar terrace. A showing of Home Alone 2 starts the festive trio of films at Turing Locke. The event is undercover and the heaters will be on! No need to book, first come first served, from 6:30pm.
December 10
Find the perfect gift for your friends and loved ones at the Knights Park Festive Market at Turing Locke from 12pm-4pm. Listen to live music from the Rockabellas while exploring a specially curated selection of market stalls.
December 11
The next day why not hone your Christmas wreath-making skills at a relaxing workshop at Storey’s Field Centre from 10am-12pm? All materials are provided, and you will leave with a beautiful wreath to hang on your door.
December 14
Enchanted Cinema returns to Eddington for the second festive film this December, with a free undercover screening of the original version of Miracle on 34th Street at the Dutch Bar terrace. Blankets and heaters provided. No need to book, first come first served, from 6:30pm.
December 15
Come and join New Life Church and Eddie’s Cafe for some communal Christmas Carol singing at the courtyard, Turing Locke.
Enjoy a seasonal folk show with A Winter Union at Storey’s Field Centre. Some of the most highly regarded folk musicians around will be playing in a transatlantic partnership, performing Christmas favourites and traditional folk and country songs.
December 16
All are welcome to join in the fun and seasonal delights at the Christmas Market and Funfair at University of Cambridge Primary School from 4pm. Enjoy a hot chocolate or mulled wine and do some gift shopping at the market stalls while the children have fun on the fair rides.
December 17
Another festive community event is the highlight at Storey’s Field Centre with the Cambridge African Network’s annual Christmas Party. Come and meet Santa, enjoy a buffet dinner with drinks, and dance the night away.
December 18
A Carol Service will take place at 10am, hosted by New Life Church at University of Cambridge Primary School. The story of Christmas will be told with traditional carols and readings, along with a steady supply of delicious mince pies!
December 21
The final festive film with Enchanted Cinema will be shown on the Dutch Bar terrace, with a screening of It’s a Wonderful Life. Blankets and heaters provided. No need to book, first come first served, from 6:30pm.
