Make it Blue - Storey's Field Centre tribute to NHS staff, carers and key workers
The award-winning Storey’s Field Centre building at Eddington was lit up blue to show support and give thanks to NHS staff and key workers on Thursday 9 April.
The lights formed part of the nation’s “Clap for Our Carers” campaign as the country is under restrictions from the Coronavirus pandemic.
Storey’s Field Centre is a community centre and performance arts venue run through a joint venture by Cambridge City Council and the University of Cambridge. It usually hosts a range of community groups and cultural events but has been closed temporarily in line with the UK government’s advice to suppress the spread of Coronavirus.
Richard Brown, the Storey’s Field Centre Manager commented: “Storey’s Field Centre salutes our brilliant brave NHS staff, City Council workers keeping the city running and the city’s scientists working on tests, cures and vaccines. We look forward to welcoming everyone back when the danger subsides but for now, Stay Home and Love the NHS.”
Around the country, the #Makeitblue campaign brings striking visuals to temporarily-closed venues and landmarks. This light installation was created by The Crane Event, Pink Lamp and JMPS. The first venue to be lit in Cambridge was the iconic King’s College.
