Eddington Residents’ Association hosted a community spirited event on Saturday 4 June as part of the nation’s celebrations for Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
The Great Eddington Platinum Jubilee Picnic saw more than 200 residents from the new community gather at the cricket pitch at Eddington and Storey’s Field Centre for a range of events, including the unveiling of the enormous Union Jack collage, Toy Swap by local organisation A Toys Life and Beyond, arts and crafts for young people hosted by Teddington and New Life Church, in addition to cupcakes from artisan patisserie, Dulcedo. The event was also supported by Sainsbury’s and the University’s Estates Division.
Pieter Desnerck, Chair of the Eddington Residents’ Association commented: “We wanted to create an event to mark the milestone that our residents could enjoy. We have a very international community at Eddington and it was wonderful that people came out with their friends and family to be part of the Eddington community.”
Another highlight from the occasion was the guest book that was created which has been sent to Her Majesty with the residents’ good wishes.
