A warm welcome at Eddington this November

This winter, Eddington’s community and local businesses are coming together to host Eddington’s Winter Welcome, a one-day festive celebration. On Saturday 29th November (12noon-8pm), friends, neighbours, and the wider community are invited to enjoy an outdoor event across Eddington Square and Turing Locke.

Capping off a year of vibrant community events, this final 2025 pop-up will build on the success of the Eddington Beer Garden and Carnival, bringing people together for a joyful celebration of laughter and festive cheer.

The focal point of the day will be entertainment under the twinkling tent, featuring a diverse lineup of community acts. Highlights include Eddington’s Community Brass Band: CSD Brass, carols with New Life Church, the East Anglian Swing Troupe, Chesterton Community College Samba and Cambridge’s LGBTQ+ community choir: Sing Out Choir. Local independent and emerging talent, including the dixie jazz band: Coe Fen Dixie, dulcet piano tones from Elliot Porter, and percussive finger-style guitarist, David Youngs will also perform. Guests will be further welcomed by festive walkabout performances throughout the event including a snow fairy on stilts!

Visitors can enjoy classic funfair favourites, including a helter skelter, mini wheel and children’s roundabout alongside seasonal activities such as curling, board games on the bus, air hockey, and the Present Made Snowconut Shy. The festive atmosphere is complete with a beautifully decorated Christmas tree and a seasonal deck chair – perfect for capturing memorable holiday card photographs.

The Knights Park Festive Market will return to Hyatt Locke Hotel from 12noon-4pm with a delightful array of over 25 market stalls, brimming with unique crafts and thoughtful gifts. Douce Heights will be taking their makers and vintage flea market to the rooftop from 12noon-5pm, followed by a DJ set from 7pm-10pm. R3FORM will also be getting involved with their open studio day offering taster classes at £1 (10:30am-4:30pm).

foodPark is serving up locally sourced American-style burgers from Steak & Honour, fluffy bao buns from Guerrilla Kitchen, hearty Yorkshire pudding wraps from Wrapunzel, and sweet treats from Churros Bar. Cambridge Event Bars will bring their iconic double-decker bus bar, where guests can enjoy mulled wine, cider, boozy hot chocolate, and even a board game, just like on the big day.

Biky Wan, Eddington’s Marketing Manager for the University of Cambridge, said: “It’s been a remarkable year for the Eddington community and our placemaking events provide the perfect opportunity for residents, neighbours, colleagues and friends to experience our vibrant and growing neighbourhood in true festive style. Our Winter Welcome brings together community groups, makers and creatives, local talent and businesses, with support from our development partners, to celebrate the season and showcase all that Eddington has to offer.”
