Sainsbury's at Eddington opens

The Sainsbury’s store at Eddington is now open.

The launch of the store was celebrated on Wednesday 6 September with a ribbon-cutting and band who welcomed the first shoppers into the store as the supermarket began trading.

The Sainsbury’s supermarket includes a range of fresh produce and groceries, bakery and coffee bar.

Matt Cullen, Sainsbury’s store manager said; “It’s been a fantastic first week. There were people queuing outside the door before 9am on opening day, and we’ve welcomed many more customers through our doors since then. Our coffee bar is very busy, and the  build your own pizza counter is a big hit. We’ve had lots of compliments about how good the store looks, and what an excellent range of products we have to offer. We look forward to the welcoming the new community – residents, students and the wider community to the store, and also working closely with the local community groups.”

Heather Topel, Project Director of the North West Cambridge Development said: “The opening of Sainsbury’s has brought a sea-change to this new place. It is fantastic to be able to provide this facility not just for our own residents, but also for the wider community.”

Sainsbury’s is open Monday-Saturday from 7.30am-10pm and Sundays from 10am-4pm.
