Eddington Sports Consultation Public Information Session

Thursday 17th July 2025 6:00pm - 8:00pm

Location: Storey’s Field Centre

We are pleased to invite you to a public information session on the future of the sports pitches in Eddington.

You may recall we asked Eddington residents and stakeholders what sports provision they would like at the second public consultation in December 2024. We have been reviewing these responses and are now pleased to be reporting back to the community on our plans.

We are looking to make improvements to the pitches on Eddington Avenue (near Huntingdon Road), transforming them into a new Sports Park and the cricket pitch next to Storey’s Field will become a new Community Park for residents and neighbours. Our proposals specifically look to replace the grass pitches with all-weather pitches for sports such as football and hockey, alongside courts for padel and tennis to offer a multi-sport facility with new play spaces. For the cricket pitches, we are looking to re-purpose them as multi-use sports, alongside woodland play areas for children plus a growing community hub and foraging orchards. This will build on the Grow Club we launched earlier this year in Eddington Place. These proposals seek to improve the existing facilities and respond to the community feedback. They will become inclusive outdoor spaces for all to enjoy.

We will be hosting a one-off public information session on the sport and amenity changes on Thursday 17th July at 5-8pm at the Storey’s Field Centre (Eddington Ave, Cambridge CB3 1AA).

A small selection of maps and diagrams will show you our proposals in more detail and we are keen to hear what you think. Following this, we will be submitting a Reserved Matters Application to the local authorities’ Greater Shared Planning Service to seek planning approval for the designs.

We hope to see you there.
